PRESIDENT/CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER

 

The Clinton County Economic Alliance:
The Clinton County Economic Alliance (CCEA) is a private/public partnership that was formed in 2007 as a countywide economic development entity focusing on business attraction, retention, expansion and startups in Clinton County, Michigan. The CCEA is seeking to fill this position by Jan. 1, 2011 when the current President/CEO will retire.

Position Overview:
The President/Chief Executive Officer of the CCEA operates in a high-profile role and must be capable of establishing and maintaining strong alliances with key business, government, education, and economic leaders not only in Clinton County, but also in the mid-Michigan region.

Education, Experience, & Requirements:

  • Past experience in an executive level leadership capacity in a regional, county or municipal economic or community development organization.
  • Ability to develop and execute a targeted attraction, retention, expansion initiative that defines and builds on the strengths of Clinton County and the mid-Michigan region.
  • Understand the importance of a strong agricultural business environment to the success of economic development.
  • Experience in public/media relations, marketing, and fundraising. Grant writing a plus.
  • Familiarity with State of Michigan and local incentive programs as well as Michigan and federal brownfield programs.
  • Strong computer skills and comfortable using business software as well as website maintenance and social media.
  • An appreciation of a non-profit operating environment, but with a private sector mentality.
  • The successful candidate must be able to successfully communicate the CCEA’s mission and execute its strategic plan.
  • A history of bringing about positive change in a complex environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree and/or professional certification desired.


Skills & Abilities:

  • Leadership skills sufficient to gain the trust and confidence of the CCEA board and executive committee. Must be comfortable and effective interacting with all levels of the business, education, agricultural, governmental, and political arena.
  • Ability to lead and facilitate and adept at building consensus.
  • Capable of absorbing information quickly, thinking broadly, analyzing thoroughly, and acting decisively.
  • Able to set goals and objectives, plan and track multiple projects and interpret complex data.
  • Comfortable playing a highly visible role in the community. The ideal candidate must participate broadly across the leadership structure of the county, region and state.
  • A motivator who creates a sense of mission and service, who values initiative and innovation, and who fosters effective communication and collaboration among people.
  • A history of unwavering personal and professional integrity.
  • Superior communication and presentation skills. The candidate must possess extremely strong written and verbal skills with an ability to relate economic development ideas to diverse audiences and communities.


Residency
This position requires a strong connection to the county, its residents and local officials. Residency within the county is preferred, but not required.

Compensation:
The compensation and benefit package will be tailored to meet the needs of the chosen candidate.
